Meet Lauren McGing

Lauren McGing is a recovery advocate, business leader and founder of Sober Professional Club, a modern community designed to help ambitious professionals overcome the hidden barriers to getting and staying sober. Lauren built her early career in the high-pressure world of fine jewelry packaging and manufacturing, where constant travel, client entertainment, and long hours were the norm.  Lauren found herself barely functioning while trying to maintain the pace. In November 2019, she made the decision to get sober and stepped off the road to rebuild her life from the ground up.

Navigating early recovery largely on her own during the pandemic, Lauren understands firsthand how isolating and complex sobriety can be, especially for professionals balancing demanding careers and expectations. Since then, she has gone on to earn her MBA and Master’s in Human Resource Management while rising into executive leadership roles across biotech startups, franchise operations, and manufacturing, currently serving as Director of Business Process. She credits sobriety as her competitive advantage, fueling clarity, discipline, and confidence.

Today, Lauren helps professionals get sober in a confidential, career-aligned way through Sober Professional Club. She also gives back by hosting meetings and events for Chicago AF, Café RE (Recovery Elevator), and Women’s International Marathon AA, creating spaces where others can build a life they don’t need to escape from.
